It just seems very silly that I have to go through such a crazy workaround for what essentially does the same as modifying the FOV number - or would have been if it wasn't locked :/ДЇoV is locked to a certain amount because of LoD issues (as Degenatron said), that's why it makes sense I guess I will try out a few things and see if this is possible.

There a many ways you could run a wider aspect ratio on a normal screen, such as letterboxing the wider image on your screen (or having the monitors scaling scale that up for you to use the full screen, albeit your vertical resolution would then be suboptimal). If you are going to cap the FOV in the first place then it makes no sense that you either have to have a multimonitor setup or a 'hackish' suboptimal resolution workaround to make it all work.ДЄssuming the above is correct (that it basically just looks for the aspect ratio of your resolution) then doing a workaround wouldn't be that hard. You can uncheck the box in the video settings in Windows that says 'Hide Resolutions not supported by this device', but be aware that you will likely lose video from the monitor with a message something like 'signal out of range'.

It is unlikely that your monitor will run at a wide screen resolution if it is not native to the device. This can be overcome by running at the highest model details and other 'ultra' settings, but that causes such a performance hit at those resolutions that it becomes unplayable. However, I now run at '1600x900 Windowed' because the gains you get from ultra-wide resolutions are undone by severe LoD glitches which cause things to blink in and out of view.

Why would you set a hard limit on FOV, and then allow people with only a spesific hardware setup to circumvent that hardcap? Considering that there is no technical reason that a normal monitor could not display the same FOV that seems totally arbitrary and unfair.Д®DIT: The FOV I saw in the aforementioned stream was definitely significantly wider than the normal 74 FOV cap, so it's not just some feature that corrects this for multimonitor setups. Sooo, essentially if I want to gain the extra FOV that wide view mode allows then I will have to artificially decrease my vertical resolution down and then resize that image back up? I mean, the game has no concept of what monitor setup I have, only what resolution it needs to output, so that has to be the case.
